DVD review – David Wants to Fly

David Sieveking directed a very interesting film about the Transcendental Meditation organization and especially about the newer Global Country of World Peace organization. This one-of-a-kind documentary movie runs for 96 minutes and was distributed in German, English, and Hindi in 2010. We are not sure if the German and Hindi versions are dubbed or subtitled, However, we applaud the director for providing a Hindi version for the Indian market so that perhaps Maharishi’s relatives and the pandits can also watch it.

David Sieveking studied film making in Berlin and as a graduate, he thought about doing a documentary movie about TM, because one of his favorite movie makers David Lynch was into Transcendental Meditation. This led him to a project filmed in multiple locations around the world and shows a side of the TM organization many have not seen.

The documentary starts on a positive note and the director is happy to meet his extremely successful world-famous colleague David Lynch, and they discuss his film project. He is given access to certain people in the Global Country of World Peace and is invited to Maharishi’s house in Vlodrop, Holland where he witnessed a shake-up in the administration of the TM organization.

As the movie progresses and David Sieveking and narrates his journey through the TM organization, he begins to get disillusioned about the world-famous meditation organization, and the new Rajas, the crowned kings of the worldwide TM organization.

He meets with the Raja of Switzerland Raja Felix, who manages the Swiss TM organization from Seelisberg which was once Maharishi’s residence and the world headquarters for TM. He is shown the grand assembly hall where Maharishi coordinated the World Government for the Age of Enlightenment.

The documentary gets weird when Raja Felix explains how one can fly through the air. We at RajaLeaks are still waiting for that moment – for more than 40 years, but I guess if a handsome royal-looking bearded man with a golden crown says it in the Swiss Alps in the building where The World Government for the Age of Enlightenment Congress had its seat years ago, then it must be true.

We don’t understand why Raja Felix mentioned flying through the air, as he has never done it, although the location high up on a cliff above the lake certainly provides a superb location for flying. We understand that yogic flying, in other words, “hopping” does provide coherence waves in the collective consciousness, and we hoped he would say more about the effect on the collective consciousness.

The director was witness to what seemed like a coup-de-ta in Maharishi’s house in Holland when he filmed a meeting between the Indian branch of the organization and the western crowned royals of the new TM organization calling itself a country. Those crowns look mighty dignified!

As can be seen in the kingdom of TM, there are crowned royals of the TM Movement, who manage one or more countries. In the above photo, you see them sitting with little national flags as if they represented those nations in some esoteric United Nations. This was the original idea for the World Government for the Age of Enlightenment which was founded in 1976 in Seelisberg, and the updated version seems to be the Global Country of World Peace, which doesn’t even have a hint of democracy. The head king is Tony Nader who isn’t a normal Raja, but a Maha Raja, which means great king in Hindi and Sanskrit.

We are glad David Sievking had the opportunity to film the discussion between the Raja-Kings and the other top managers of the TM global kingdom, as it allows the world to see who is running the once-famous Transcendental Meditation Movement. If this all seems strange, you are not alone. The authors of the RajaLeaks site also think this whole damm thing is very strange even though we have been in the original TM Movement for decades. How strange must this seem to someone just interested in spiritual development, and is shopping around for a meditation technique?

The Rajas are frightening, and scare people away with their golden crowns, their royal gowns, and the whole display of royalty. The TM leaders insist that the TM organization is now a country, as evidenced by the name of the organization. Not to speak of their many political acts over the years. We will discuss their political acts in depth, I mean get deep into it in the future. These raja clowns might look nice in their royal outfits, and they may be sincere in helping the world, but the world is watching them too from the outside, and not understanding what they are seeing. I know of people, very important people that will not go near these fake royals with a 10-foot pole (ya..about three meters for Europeans).

David Sievking also met with the German Raja, which was important because David is German, and he was very interested in the future of the TM Movement in Germany. In later articles, we will show you the German Raja’s disastrous behavior in public. For now, we just present to you the “king of Germany” in his crown outfit.

The film premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2010. Since then it has been shown at least 31 other film festivals. It’s a shame the valuable TM technique has been tainted by the activities of the Rajas, and the whole political concept of a global kingdom. What were these Rajas and their wives thinking as they prepared to allegedly pay one million dollars – some say more – for the position and crown?

We applaud this filmmaker’s efforts to expose the fake kings and the fake kingdom and the whole circus of royal clowns. We at RajaLeaks believe in freedom of speech and filmmakers’ rights to expose things that are strange or can potentially harm the public. We write this after hearing about many TM teachers, faculty, and staff members blacklisted or abused in other ways by the worldwide organization. We write this after seeing many people who worked for the TM organization for many years for unusually low pay, and then having to retire with almost no retirement benefits. The list goes on and on. We hope David will one day direct a sequel to David Wants to Fly, where the financial and legal ethics of the organization can also be exposed. Perhaps David would want to call the sequel “David Revisits the TM Kingdom and asks questions” or perhaps he could call it “Human rights issues in the global kingdom of TM”. Whatever he would call his new documentary, I would stand in line the first day it shows at a film festival. Thank you David for the good work!
