Dr. Tony Nader, a prominent global leader in Maharishi’s knowledge, has been recommended to become the next President of Maharishi International University (MIU), according to a recent announcement by current President John Hagelin. Hagelin, who plans to step down and assume the role of President Emeritus, expressed excitement about the transition, which will allow him to focus on promoting MIU’s global mission and enhancing the university’s national and international presence. The decision comes after a productive meeting of the Board Governance Committee, with further discussions to follow involving MIU’s key stakeholders.

Esteemed MIU Faculty and Administrators,

Yesterday, after a long and fruitful meeting, our Board Governance Committee voted to recommend to the full Board that Dr. Tony Nader, MD, PhD, be chosen to serve as MIU’s next President — allowing me, in the position of President Emeritus and MIU Faculty, to focus on MIU’s vital global mission and culture, promoting MIU both nationally and internationally, together with fundraising, teaching, and research.

This is something I have been desiring for some time. It will allow me to use my skills to the University’s greatest advantage, and I am grateful now to have this opportunity.

Our stated priorities in this executive leadership search were

(1) to find a successor deeply steeped in Maharishi’s knowledge and mission;
and
(2) if possible, find a leader who could bring additional financial resources to bear on the University.

Dr. Tony Nader is a clear standout in both these regards as the foremost global leader of Maharishi’s knowledge and a figure of great national and international prominence.

The coming days and weeks will be filled with meetings with MIU’s various stakeholders and various contingencies — faculty, administrators, student government, key committees, representative leaders of Fairfield, and so forth.

The first meeting of faculty will be this afternoon (Sunday) at 1:30 in Dalby Hall.

It will be my continuing privilege and great joy to serve all of you, and with all of you, with all my heart and all my strength.

With best wishes,

John Hagelin
